My Story

My story is not one that you will hear in a fairy tale book or see portrayed in movies. I am just a small town country girl, trying to make the world a more beautiful place, one photo at a time.  I grew up on a small farm in Holly Pond, Alabama with my mom, dad, and little sister, as well as a herd of dogs, cats, and cows. When I was 16, my dad gave me my first camera as a Valentine’s Day present. Some dads strike out when buying a present for their teenage daughter, but my dad hit the nail on the head to say the least. Photography quickly became my passion and I started to see the world through the lens of a camera. All throughout high school, I was able to shoot sessions of my fellow classmates as well as stand on the sidelines at sporting events, capturing the raw emotion of some of the best moments of Holly Pond High School Athletics.

After graduating high school, I attended Auburn University to study agricultural communications. During my time at Auburn, I was able to work for Auburn University Photographic Services as a student photographer, as well as a communications student worker for the Department of Agricultural Economics and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. In these jobs, I was able to utilize my photography skills, all while learning new techniques and strategies in communications and photography.

Fast forward to today, I currently reside in Holly Pond, Alabama with my husband Jerrod and fur-child Tuff. While photography is my passion, I also own an agriculture marketing and communications business -Southern Legacy Marketing & Design – where I specialize in graphic and web design, commercial photography and videography, and brand development. I’ve been blessed with a life where I can express myself through photography. Being able to capture special moments and unique emotions for my clients is the sole reason why I am in this business. I don’t look at each session as another paycheck but more as an opportunity to get to know new people and keep in touch with past clients. You’re not just hiring a photographer, you will be hiring a person who is capturing memories for you to experience over and over again.
